Q: Is the beard a Sunnah or an obligation, and what is the evidence?
Shaykh Abdur-Razaq Al-Badr: Letting the beard grow is obligatory; it is not merely a recommended Sunnah.
The evidence is that the Prophet ﷺ gave many authentic commands regarding growing the beard, and a command.
He ﷺ said: “Let the beards grow.” And he said: “Leave the beards.” And he said: “Let the beards hang down.” And he said: “Be different from the Magians.” And: “Be different from the musrikeen.”
He also informed us that the beard is from the sunan al-fitrah

Today is the 1st of Shaʿbān
🛑 The recommendation to fast in Shaʿbān is strongly emphasized for three great reasons:
🔗 First: Because Shaʿbān is a month that is neglected by people, as it falls between Rajab and Ramaḍān. Acts of worship performed during times and places of neglect are of greater virtue.
🔗 Second: Because it is a month in which the deeds of the servants are raised, and from the Sunnah and goodness for a servant is that his deeds be raised to his Lord while he is fasting.
🔗 Third: Because it was the practice of the Prophet (peace be upon him); he used to fast in Shaʿbān in a way he did not fast in other months.
